Interns are employees, too. And we treat them as such.

The Liggett Stashower Internship Program gives students a chance to dive into authentic marketing situations with real, live clients. There might be a bit of copying, scanning and filing, but our interns are here to learn and contribute.

Each year, we hire four to eight talented juniors and seniors from colleges around the country for our summer internship program. Internships are available in brand management - a unique combination of advertising account service and public relations; creative - including copywriting and graphic design; connection planning - comprising research, strategy development and media planning; interactive - programming and testing of interactive projects; financial; and IT.

What to Expect

Team projects

We like to throw our interns head first (figuratively) into situations they would experience in a typical day on the job. So, teamwork is a big part of the program. Interns will get a chance to interact with every department in the agency so they can get a taste for the whole business.

Mentor program

Every intern is paired with an LS mentor, who is responsible for providing guidance and advice throughout the internship. The mentors play a crucial role in managing their intern’s workflow and the prioritization of deadlines.

Field trips

Cleveland is a great marketing town. There are many resources here that students don’t get a chance to see. So we take our interns to local television and radio stations, printing companies, photography studios, advertising and public relations association functions and networking events.

Take an executive to lunch

This program gives our interns the chance to sit around a table with top LS personnel and ask questions about their experiences and their perspectives on our business.

T-shirt design

“I worked at Liggett Stashower all summer long and all I got was invaluable career experience and this lousy t-shirt.” It’s an LS tradition. Our interns collaborate on the design of a t-shirt commemorating their time here.

Ham Day

LS’ favorite bi-annual holiday gives our interns a chance to share their learning with the entire agency (and eat ham, of course).

Variety

Every day in this business is different. That’s part of what makes it so great. Meetings one day. A photoshoot the next. Sometimes we leave right at 5 pm. And there will be days when things need to get done and we’ll have to stick around to finish the job. If that’s a big problem, you may not be LS material.
